Keynote: Teaching with AI?! School in the Era of ChatGPT and Chatbots

Last week, the University of Hildesheim hosted an enlightening keynote by Sebastian Wollny on the topic, "Unterricht mit KI?! Schule in Zeiten von ChatGPT und Chatbots" (Teaching with AI?! School in the Era of ChatGPT and Chatbots). On 10-11 July 2023, a representative of the GREAT project was invited to give a plenary talk at the “Young Minds in Technology Advancements” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is the Science and Education Leadership Training event for young scientists at the Malaysian Young Academy. Visit from Sasha Poquet

On April 13th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Dr. Oleksandra (Sasha) Poquet, professor in learning analytics at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology at the Technical University of Munich, to our EduTec group in Frankfurt. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the EduTec group to learn from Sasha's research experience and explore the future of educational technology. The visit began with an introduction by Hendrik Drachsler, who provided an overview of our current research and ongoing projects. This was followed by a presentation by Oleksandra Poquet, who discussed her current, present and future research. HILA Keynote @ CEL annual meeting

Hendrik Drachsler gave a keynote @ the LDE CEL Annual Meeting under the theme ‘Developing a Culture of Learning Analytics'. Hendrik summarized the achievements of the Highly Informative and Learning Analytics (HILA) research program, that is the successor of the Trusted Learning Analytics research program conducted in Frankfurt, Germany. After two years of digital annual meetings, finally CEL could invite again to their annual meeting 2022 at the CEL Teaching Lab. In the month of November, Ioana Jivet was invited to share her work on two occasions. The first was an invited lecture in the course FDH3006 Introduction to Learning Analytics part of a PhD Program at KTH Stockholm in collaboration with the University of Bergen, Norway and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The talk covered the topic of "Generating highly informative feedback with learning analytics" and addressed the question of how we can design effective feedback to students in online environments using learning analytics. The second talk was given as part of the event 100 DAYS OF... Data for Learning organised by the Centre for Education and Learning at TU Delft. Keynote at LERN Jahrestagung 2022

On 30 March 2022, Hendrik Drachsler gave an invited keynote at the LERN conference 2022 where he reported on the latest research on data-driven high informative feedback in higher education and schools. The talk focused on the experience of edutec.science research collective that has been gained in the projects DIFA, HIKOF-DL, AFLEK and ALICE. The presentation provided an overview of actionable and supportive feedback to learners as well as the various technical products that the EduTec group has developed. It, therefore, applies web technology to support meta-cognitive and collaborative learning skills with high-informative feedback methods. Hendrik applies validated measurement instruments from the field of psychometrics and investigates to what extent Learning Analytics interventions can reproduce the findings of these instruments. In February 2022 Dr Daniele Di Mitri was invited to present at The Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The HCII institute is one of the largest and most renowned institutes in the field of Education Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence in Education. Dr Di Mitri was invited to present in the group led by Prof Vincent Aleven.
