BR Radio: Roboter statt Lehrerinnen und Lehrer? Wie sollte die Schule der Zukunft aussehen?

Artificial Intelligence, Invited talk, Learning Analytics, Learning Design, Robots in Education, School
Keynote: Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Technologies for Feedback Augmentation

Keynote: Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Technologies for Feedback Augmentation

Invited talk, Keynote
On 5th October 2022, Dr Daniele Di Mitri was invited to give a keynote workshop at the SITE interactive online conference. Keynote Workshop: Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Technologies for Feedback Augmentation Abstract: Twenty-first-century learners are continuously required to nurture their competencies by acquiring new knowledge and mastering new skills. A way to meet this significant demand for learning is to offer learners continuous instruction and timely feedback. In the internet era, learners have access to a large variety of educational content outside formal education curricula, including online courses or video lectures. Unfortunately, access to content alone is not sufficient for guaranteeing learning. What is needed, and often lacking, is proper guidance and feedback. Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems can provide automatic, personalised, real-time feedback to learners in distance learning settings when…

Keynote at LERN Jahrestagung 2022

Computational Psychometrics, Higher Education, Invited talk, Keynote, Learning Analytics, Learning Design, School
On 30 March 2022, Hendrik Drachsler gave an invited keynote at the LERN conference 2022 where he reported on the latest research on data-driven high informative feedback in higher education and schools. The talk focused on the experience of edutec.science research collective that has been gained in the projects DIFA, HIKOF-DL, AFLEK and ALICE. The presentation provided an overview of actionable and supportive feedback to learners as well as the various technical products that the EduTec group has developed. It, therefore, applies web technology to support meta-cognitive and collaborative learning skills with high-informative feedback methods. Hendrik applies validated measurement instruments from the field of psychometrics and investigates to what extent Learning Analytics interventions can reproduce the findings of these instruments. He discussed the lessons learned from implementing TLA systems. He…

Guest Lecture at Carnegie Mellon University

Invited talk
On 18th November 2021, Dr Daniele Di Mitri was invited to give a guest lecture to the Human-AI Interaction course at Carnegie Mellon University. The course is organised by Haiyi Zhu, Steven Wu and it resonates with Di Mitri's seminar Responsible AI for Human support. Abstract of the guest lecture: This guest lecture will focus on artificial intelligence in education. We start the lecture with a short history of AI systems in education; we will then introduce the concept of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), the idea of providing automatic and personalised feedback for learners and provide some examples of modern ITSs. Additionally, we look at alternative and more indirect applications of AI in education and their potential support and benefits in education. Finally, we consider how modern multimodal and multi-sensor interfaces…
