Keynote at LERN Jahrestagung 2022

On 30 March 2022, Hendrik Drachsler gave an invited keynote at the LERN conference 2022 where he reported on the latest research on data-driven high informative feedback in higher education and schools. The talk focused on the experience of edutec.science research collective that has been gained in the projects DIFA, HIKOF-DL, AFLEK and ALICE. The presentation provided an overview of actionable and supportive feedback to learners as well as the various technical products that the EduTec group has developed. It, therefore, applies web technology to support meta-cognitive and collaborative learning skills with high-informative feedback methods. Hendrik applies validated measurement instruments from the field of psychometrics and investigates to what extent Learning Analytics interventions can reproduce the findings of these instruments. Guest visit at Carnegie Mellon University

In February 2022 Dr Daniele Di Mitri was invited to present at The Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The HCII institute is one of the largest and most renowned institutes in the field of Education Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence in Education. Dr Di Mitri was invited to present in the group led by Prof Vincent Aleven. In his talk, entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Multimodal Learning Experiences for Supporting Distance Learning", Dr Di Mitri presented the newly formed topic cluster in Artificial Intelligence in Education formed at the DIPF, its current research projects, foci and directions. On 18th November 2021, Dr Daniele Di Mitri was invited to give a guest lecture to the Human-AI Interaction course at Carnegie Mellon University. The course is organised by Haiyi Zhu, Steven Wu and it resonates with Di Mitri's seminar Responsible AI for Human support. On 09.11.21 Hendrik Drachsler gave an invited talk on Learning Analytics - Data Science in den Bildungswissenschaften at a newly founded Data Science in Education Center the Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich. Hendrik reflected on the process of applying learning analytics solutions within higher education settings, its implications, and the critical lessons learned in the Trusted Learning Research Program. The talk focused on the experience of edutec.science research collective consisting of researchers from the Netherlands and Germany that contribute to the Trusted Learning Analytics (TLA) research program.
