Recap on the webinar on Highly-Informative Learning Analytics at the DGHD

Following the successful execution of the dghd series on Learning Analytics in higher education, and based on the decided community interest, we were excited to have announced the continuation of the lecture series focusing on Learning Analytics. The series, which was organized jointly by the dghd working groups "Digital Media in Higher Education Didactics (dmhd)" and "Psychology and Teaching-Learning Research," along with the dghd board, aimed to shed light on the capabilities of Learning Analytics and how it could be implemented across various university projects. New Pub: Effective Use of Learner-Generated Data in Teacher Training Activities

How can data be utilized in teacher training in an effective and ethical manner? This question was addressed by Hendrik Drachsler, 3 teacher trainers and the European Schoolnet Academy team at the webinar “Effective Use of Data in Teacher Training” held on the 18th and 19th of January 2023. One of the main focuses of the webinar was the newly-published report "Effective Use of Learner-Generated Data in Teacher Training Activities", written by Hendrik Drachsler. The report presents an overview of the concepts and applications of learner-generated data (learning analytics) and gives potential training scenarios for teacher training programs. Transfer Workshop @ Digitaltag 2022 on highly informative and data-driven feedback with AI in higher education

The third Digitaltag will take place on June 24, 2022. The initiative "Digital for All" is behind the Digitaltag. The alliance of more than 25 organizations from the fields of civil society, culture, science, business, welfare and the public sector unites a common goal: to promote digital participation in Germany. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Drachsler contributes a talk on highly informative and data-driven feedback with AI in higher education. Feedback is a powerful element of all learning processes. However, it is difficult to offer highly informative feedback to large groups of learners. Webinar: What happens when students get to choose indicators on customisable dashboards?

Learning analytics dashboards (LADs) are essentially feedback tools for learners. However, until recently, learners rarely have had a role in designing LADs, especially in deciding the information they would like to receive through such devices. Although learners might not always know what they need to self-manage their learning, we need to understand what type of feedback information and dashboard features they are likely to engage with and if, when, and how they use dashboards. To explore how LADs can better meet the needs of learners, we have embarked on two sets of studies aiming to understand students' information needs.
