Teacher-Student-AI Co-Orchestration in Educational Settings

On the 4th and 5th of March 2020 in Bochum the international workshop on Teacher-Student-AI co-orchestration in education took place. Learning Analytics supported Learning Design Workshop

In the context of the hessian project, Digital gestütztes Lehren und Lernen in Hessen (digLL) organized the Innovation forum Trusted Learning Analytics (TLA) on 4th of February a workshop on Learning Analytics supported Learning Design with Marcel Schmitz. Marcel Schmitz is working for more than 16 years in Higher Education at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in the South of the Netherlands. His career at Zuyd started as a Technical Support Engineer and Developer on the learning management system and soon he began to implement and develop several learning enhancing technologies. In 2007 Marcel started to combine his support job, with a job as technology-enhanced learning advisor for all faculties at Zuyd and a teaching role at Zuyd Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. Trusted Learning Analytics Workshop am 14. eLearning-Netzwerktag der Goethe-Universität

Am 11. Dezember 2019 fand der 14. eLearning-Netzwerktag der Goethe-Universität auf dem Campus Westend im Casino von 10 – 18 Uhr statt. Mehr als 200 Lehrende und eLearning-Interessierte aus der Goethe-Uni sowie aus anderen Hochschulen, Schulen und Bildungseinrichtungen sahen Präsentationen von eLearning-Lehrprojekten aus den Fachbereichen sowie studentische eLearning-Initiativen. Am Vormittag stellten insgesamt 18 Projekte aus den eLearning-Förderrunden eLF und SeLF ihre Arbeiten vor. Der Nachmittag stand im Zeichen des hessischen Verbundprojektes DigLL (Digital gestütztes Lehren und Lernen in Hessen), dessen Teilprojekte an der Goethe-Universität von Vizepräsident Prof. Dr. Roger Erb vorgestellt wurden. Für das DigLL Teilprojekt - Trusted Learning Analytics moderierten Prof. Dr. Drachsler and Dr. Christoph Rensing zwei Workshops rund um ethischer Richtlinien zur Anwendung von Learning Analytics in Deutschland.

Workshop Trusted Learning Analytics

Im Rahmen des hessischen Projekts Digital gestütztes Lehren und Lernen in Hessen (digLL) hat das Innovationsforum Trusted Learning Analytics (TLA) am 1. Juli 2019 einen Workshop im Hause des DIPF | Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsforschung und Bildungsinformation durchgeführt. Elf Teilnehmer aus sechs hessischen Hochschulen und der zentralen digLL-Servicestelle haben intensiv über Möglichkeiten und Hindernisse einer Einführung von Learning Analytics an hessischen Hochschulen diskutiert. Schnell ist deutlich geworden, dass sowohl bei Lehrenden als auch bei Lernenden ein großes Interesse an den Möglichkeiten von Learning Analytics besteht, die Vorbehalte gegenüber einer breiten Datensammlung und -auswertung aber mindestens genauso groß sind. Dementsprechend ist die Einstellung der Datenschutzbeauftragten der Hochschulen gegenüber solcher Vorhaben sehr zurückhaltend bis ablehnend. Da die Teilnehmer des Workshops diese Einstellung teilen, wurde besprochen, wie datenschutzgerechtes und somit eine Trusted Form von Learning Analytics gestaltet werden…

DIPF & CEL Innovation Room #13: Learning Analytics in Higher Education

On 8 April we contributed to the CEL 13th Innovation Room on Learning Analytics; an afternoon focusing on the topic of Learning Analytics. Prof. Dr. Marcus Specht, head of CEL, TU Delft kicked off the innovation room with a welcome and overview of the programme. Hendrik Drachsler, Professor of Educational Technologies and Learning Analytics, followed with a keynote on Tangible Trusted Learning Analytics. Interactive workshops followed the keynote. Participants could choose one workshop out of four, all exploring a different side of Learning Analytics. After thr coffee break the afternoon was wrapped up with a panel discussion about the Future of Learning Analytics. Von der LAK19 -> LAK20 in Frankfurt, Germany

Hendrik Drachsler und sein Team sowie Marc Rittberger waren vom 4. bis 8 März mit mehreren Beiträgen auf der neunten International Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference 2019 (LAK 19, siehe Bild) in Tempe, USA, vertreten. Dazu gehörte zum Beispiel ein umfangreiches, gemeinsam mit Forschenden von der Open University of the Netherlands verfasstes Paper mit dem Titel Read Between the Lines: An Annotation Tool for Multimodal Data for Learning. Die LAK 20 findet übrigens nächstes Jahr vom 23. bis 27. März an der Goethe-Universität statt – mit ausgerichtet von unseren Kolleginnen und Kollegen. The 10th International Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference will be held at University of Frankfurt, in Germany on March 23–27, 2020.

Januar 2019 lud der Forschungsbereich »Educational Technologies« zu einem öffentlichen Gastvortrag von Prof. David Williamson Shaffer im Kontext des DELTA-Projekts ein: »Quantitative Ethnography: Turning Big Data into Real Understanding«. David Williamson Shaffer ist Vilas Distinguished Professor für »Learning Sciences« an der University of Wisconsin-Madison, Obel Foundation Professor für »Learning Analytics« an der Aalborg University in Kopenhagen und »Data Philosopher« am Wisconsin Center for Education Research.
