Hendrik Drachsler is Professor of Educational Technologies and Learning Analytics and affiliated with the German Leibniz Institute for International Educational Research (dipf.de), the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, and the Open University of the Netherlands. His research interests include Learning Analytics, Personalisation technologies, Recommender Systems, Educational data, mobile devices, and their applications in the fields of Technology-Enhanced Learning and Health 2.0. Hendrik is elected board member of the Society of Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) as well as member of the board of the European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning (EATEL). In the past he has been principal investigator and scientific coordinator of various national (BMBF EduArc) and EU projects (e.g., patient-project.eu, LinkedUp-project.eu, laceproject.eu, safepat.eu, sheilaproject.eu) and was responsible for a consortium budget of over 17 Million Euro research grants and 4.2 Million Euro for his research group. Hendrik has regularly chaired international scientific conferences (e.g. LAK16, ECTEL17, ECTEL18, LAK20) and is Associate Editor of IEEE's Transactions on Learning Technologies (TLT), and is Special Issue Editor of the Journal of Computer Assisted Learning (JCAL). He authored various highly cited articles on Technology-Enhanced Learning.

Assessing the validity of a learning analytics expectation instrument: A multinational study

To assist higher education institutions in meeting the challenge of limited student engagement in the implementation of Learning Analytics services, the Questionnaire for Student Expectations of Learning Analytics (SELAQ) was developed. This instrument contains 12 items, which are explained by a purported two‐factor structure of “Ethical and Privacy Expectations” and “Service Feature Expectations.” As it stands, however, the SELAQ has only been validated with students from UK university, which is problematic on account of the interest in Learning Analytics extending beyond this context. Thus, the aim of the current work was to assess whether the translated SELAQ can be validated in three contexts (an Estonian, a Spanish, and a Dutch University). Trusted Learning Analytics Workshop am 14. eLearning-Netzwerktag der Goethe-Universität

Am 11. Dezember 2019 fand der 14. eLearning-Netzwerktag der Goethe-Universität auf dem Campus Westend im Casino von 10 – 18 Uhr statt. Mehr als 200 Lehrende und eLearning-Interessierte aus der Goethe-Uni sowie aus anderen Hochschulen, Schulen und Bildungseinrichtungen sahen Präsentationen von eLearning-Lehrprojekten aus den Fachbereichen sowie studentische eLearning-Initiativen. Am Vormittag stellten insgesamt 18 Projekte aus den eLearning-Förderrunden eLF und SeLF ihre Arbeiten vor. Der Nachmittag stand im Zeichen des hessischen Verbundprojektes DigLL (Digital gestütztes Lehren und Lernen in Hessen), dessen Teilprojekte an der Goethe-Universität von Vizepräsident Prof. Dr. Roger Erb vorgestellt wurden. Für das DigLL Teilprojekt - Trusted Learning Analytics moderierten Prof. Dr. Drachsler and Dr. Christoph Rensing zwei Workshops rund um ethischer Richtlinien zur Anwendung von Learning Analytics in Deutschland.

Darunter versteht man das Erheben, Sammeln und Analysieren von bildungsbezogenen Daten an Universitäten, mit dem Ziel die Lernenden besser zu verstehen und sie optimal beim Lernen zu unterstützen. Für welche Zwecke sollen Deine Daten genutzt werden? Welche Services könnten dich bei einem erfolgreichen Studium unterstützen? Welche Daten sollen nicht verwendet werden? Workshop Trusted Learning Analytics

Im Rahmen des hessischen Projekts Digital gestütztes Lehren und Lernen in Hessen (digLL) hat das Innovationsforum Trusted Learning Analytics (TLA) am 1. Juli 2019 einen Workshop im Hause des DIPF | Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsforschung und Bildungsinformation durchgeführt. Elf Teilnehmer aus sechs hessischen Hochschulen und der zentralen digLL-Servicestelle haben intensiv über Möglichkeiten und Hindernisse einer Einführung von Learning Analytics an hessischen Hochschulen diskutiert. Schnell ist deutlich geworden, dass sowohl bei Lehrenden als auch bei Lernenden ein großes Interesse an den Möglichkeiten von Learning Analytics besteht, die Vorbehalte gegenüber einer breiten Datensammlung und -auswertung aber mindestens genauso groß sind. Dementsprechend ist die Einstellung der Datenschutzbeauftragten der Hochschulen gegenüber solcher Vorhaben sehr zurückhaltend bis ablehnend. Da die Teilnehmer des Workshops diese Einstellung teilen, wurde besprochen, wie datenschutzgerechtes und somit eine Trusted Form von Learning Analytics gestaltet werden…
