On 26.11.2025 our team had the privilege of participating in #EduNext25, a full-day conference dedicated to the future of digitalization and AI in higher education. Hosted by studiumdigitale at Goethe University Frankfurt, the event brought together educators, researchers and innovators from across Hessen and beyond to discuss how technology can transform teaching and learning.
The opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Viera Pirker, Minister TimonGremmels and Prof. Dr. Hendrik Drachsler set the tone: digitalization and AI are not just trends, they are essential tools for shaping the academic experience of tomorrow. One highlight was the EduConnect session, where universities from the HessenHub network and the QuiS program showcased their latest projects and approaches to digital learning. Another highlight was the panel discussion on strategic alliances for future teaching. Experts from various federal states debated how AI should be integrated into higher education. The conversation wasn’t just about technology, it was also about ethics, accessibility and the responsibility we have as educators to guide this transformation thoughtfully.
We also enjoyed the keynote by Prof. Dr. Gabi Reinmann, who explored how AI can support didactic decisions. She emphasized that technology should enhance and not replace the human element in teaching. Her insights remind us that while AI offers incredible possibilities, its success depends on how we structure and apply it.

In the afternoon, we joined the Explore the Future sessions, which featured workshops, presentations and interactive stands. From innovative tools to practical strategies for digital teaching, these sessions helped to fill our notebooks with input and ideas to further our future research endeavors.
The day concluded with a relaxed get-together, where we celebrated the 20th anniversary of studiumdigitale. It was the perfect opportunity to network, exchange experiences and reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed.
Walking away from #EduNext25, our attending team members now feel energized and optimistic. The event didn’t just showcase technology; it highlighted collaboration, creativity and a shared vision for the future of education. The biggest takeaway for us is that digitalization and AI are not challenges to overcome, but rather opportunities to embrace.
