It doesn’t happen often that one can witness a colleague taking an inspiring leap into a new and exciting chapter of their careers. But today, we celebrate just that, as we send our warmest congratulations to our esteemed colleague Dr. Joshua Weidlich as he takes up a tenure track professorship at the University of Zurich and the Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich starting in October.
To embark on this new journey, Joshua will be swapping the Frankfurt Skyline for the Swiss mountains. We are excited for him for this change of scenery, but will miss him dearly.
Joshua has been part of the EduTec family for 3.5 years – which accounts to roughly 1,278 cups of coffee and probably even more team and project meetings. His incredibly helpful and consistently friendly nature have been a constant pillar of support for us over the years. From the very first minutes Joshua started our team as a postdoc, he became deeply involved in projects like LAMASS, HIKOF and IMPACT. He not only used his expertise to advance the projects’ development, but has also been a vital support for countless PhD projects – like those of Dana Kube, Atezaz Ahmad and Onur Karademir.
For anyone who thinks “publish or perish” is just a saying, Joshua has proved otherwise. During his time with us, he has contributed to an impressive 19 academic papers, authoring 6 of them as the first author. Equally impressive is his diverse scope of academic topics, ranging from Feedback Literacy & Perception, Social Presence, Gender & Diversity to Reasoning with Causal Graphs.
Joshua has certainly earned his professorship in Zurich – after all of his hard work and academic brilliance, it was only a matter of time.
In that spirit, dear Joshua, we wish you the best of luck in Switzerland. Stay the superstar you are. We are already looking forward to future international collaborations with you and your new team in Zurich. We wish you all the best!
